Apreo 2 SEM

Scanning electron microscope for versatile, high performance materials imaging and analysis

The Thermo Scientific Apreo 2 SEM makes high-performance imaging and analytics accessible to users of all microscopy experience levels. Featuring Thermo Scientific ChemiSEM Technology, a unique live elemental imaging capability, it ensures that compositional information is always readily available through an intuitive interface. ChemiSEM Technology eliminates the complexities typically associated with EDS implementations, offering unmatched ease of use and significantly reducing the time to achieve results.

The Apreo 2 SEM also reduces the burden on users and lab managers with its Thermo Scientific SmartAlign Technology, an advanced optical system that automatically aligns itself. Additionally, the Apreo 2 SEM simplifies the image fine-tuning process with Thermo Scientific FLASH Technology, which automatically corrects lens centering, stigmation, and final focus. These technologies together allow even users new to electron microscopy to achieve high-end imaging performance. Notably, the Apreo 2 SEM is the only SEM that offers 1-nanometer resolution at a 10 mm analytical working distance, proving that long working distances no longer compromise image quality. With the Apreo 2 SEM, users of all skill levels can achieve excellent results with confidence.

Features

High performance, resolution, and contrast
The Apreo 2 combines advanced optics, detection systems, and automation to make high-resolution imaging accessible, even for users who are new to SEM.

Wide range of sample types
Designed for maximum versatility, the Apreo 2 enables high-quality, high-resolution imaging across a variety of sample types. Whether working with insulating, beam-sensitive, or magnetic materials, the Apreo 2’s unique optics, detection options, and beam control ensure easy imaging regardless of sample properties.

Live quantitative EDS with ChemiSEM
ChemiSEM provides live, quantitative elemental mapping, delivering elemental information in real time, ensuring fast and easy results.

Quick and easy sample loading
The Apreo 2 minimizes downtime with easy stage access, a convenient multi-sample holder, and rapid pump down times. An automated routine for inserting and removing the pressure-limiting aperture (PLA) allows seamless transitions between high and low vacuum modes without needing to open the chamber.

Advanced automation
From optical alignment to image acquisition, the Apreo 2 incorporates a range of automated features to optimize imaging efficiency. FLASH Technology automates image fine-tuning, while the unique Undo function allows users to efficiently explore different imaging conditions. Thermo Scientific Maps software automates large-area acquisition with up to four simultaneous signals.

Performance at long working distances
The Apreo 2 is the only SEM that delivers 1-nanometer resolution and excellent image quality at a 10 mm analytical working distance. Users can simultaneously explore sample morphology, topography, and surface information while maintaining a safe distance from the pole piece. Its high-speed, high-sensitivity in-lens backscattered detector ensures BSE detection even at ultra-low beam currents, down to a few pA.
